MLK freebie!!

My days and weeks have been crazy!!! My husband and I are moving next weekend to a house, finally, and our apartment is a disaster. So if I wasn't packing this weekend, we were outside.
I did make time, however, to make up a quick MLK freebie. It's not much, but I'm working with my kiddos on descriptive words. Using our "college brain" to produce bigger words, so I printed this up for tomorrow! If you can use it, it's on my store at http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Cassie-Thomas :)
Have a great night, well now it's after midnight. So have a great earrrrrly morning :)

Just Me January Linky

I decided to link up with Kinder Sisters over at http://kindersisters.blogspot.com !! :)

The questions were asked as followed:
your name!
Cassie Thomas :)

What is your hometown/state?
Afton, Oklahoma now residing in Texas!
Are you a morning or night person?
Morning these days. Not that I exactly want to wake up, but I'm so exhausted at night time I don't ever stay up like I used to! Now the weekends and over Christmas break were completely different. I was up past 1 and awake around 7-8.
Are you a collector of anything?
Not really. Clothes. It's a problem.
What is the most used app on your smart phone?
Instagram, I am sure.
What is your favorite cereal?
Fruit Loops with Marshmallows, but if I have to be healthy, Special K with yogurt!
What is the oldest pair of shoes in your closet?
Oh goodness, I have shoes in my closet from freshman year in high school (2004)
What is your favorite snack?
Does wine count ;) Food wise, I love fruit.
City or country?
Country. Big time.
What is your favorite thing about teaching?
Listening to my kiddos "play" and not know they are learning. Then talking about it later that day. I love knowing I'm making a difference. :)

So, everybody go link up with the Kinder Sisters!! It's their first linky! :)

Good night!!

Freebie - A Work in Progress

I am absolutely AMAZED at all of these teachers who can make unit after unit. I don't know how y'all have the time or energy! Kudos. Cause I sure do love to purchase most of them. I am assuming it's part of being a first year teacher and just learning what the kids really need help with and the best way they learn. With that said, I feel like I should have pushed writing, creative writing especially, more earlier in the year. So I have decided to create these little books for my kiddos to put together to practice writing and reading while I am pulling groups aside for guided reading. I love love love centers, but I can't always be sure that they are retaining any information from centers (slash actually talking about the centers, or about recess) :) So, I would like to have centers while I can actually have time to walk around and sort of take anecdotal assessments over their conversations and help any who I see need more help in a particular area.

As far as daily centers go, it may or may not ALWAYS happen. BUT -- I do do "morning tubs" where I include a ton of the centers I print off from TpT, and also a lot of writing, books, puzzles, sequencing activities, math activities, etc. They look like this:
I include a lot of different things in them, but every week I switch  stuff out and they are rotated to a different table every day. You start out with your color tub. The kiddos LOVE these, and I am so happy that I switched to these instead of worksheets in the AM while I get their folders out.
With that said, I would like to offer my first "book"

for free on my TpT store! Leave me feedback if you like this product and if you want more! I will definitely post one for every single sight word! Thanks for visiting!

Have a blessed night!!

Bucket List Check Off

I am super excited this evening! I was approved by the administration to be funded to attend the 2014 Texas Conference for Kindergarten Teachers in February!
A few of my absolute teacher idols are going to be there presenting. Such a honor to be able to learn from them! Definitely marking this off my bucket list to get to see Deanna Jump and hear all about her innovative ways in the classroom!
Beyond thankful to have the support of my administrators!

As far as this week goes, I have had ZERO time to get any lessons planned for next week with testing for report cards. Worst idea ever to wait until AFTER break. (Take note new teachers, try and get as much done before break.) My kiddos have been great since we've been back, but they definitely want to do activities instead of sit next to me and I ask them questions. I don't blame them, just know my assessing will go differently next year.
Live and learn. :)

I have also decided to start creating literacy activities to be worked on while I pull aside those for guided reading groups. My children need more work on sentence structure and spelling so look forward to my next creation on that. Time to get my creative wheels rollin'.

With that said, I have planning to do, as well as packing! My husband and I are moving to our first house in less than a month. I have absolutely nothing packed. It will happen, when it happens. I am super excited for that as well! Lots of changes in the Thomas family! Lots of dreams being reached.
Now if at some point I can find time to work in getting my master's that would be fantastic. Kudos to all of you who somehow have time to manage work, school, kids, TpT, friends, family, etc. I will say this until the day I die,
there aren't enough hours in a day.

xoxo,
Mrs. Thomas

Resolutions

Well I thought I would get on here while I still have a few days off and share my resolutions! I found the cutest linky party from
 Peach For The Teach
I also would like to share another resolution I have for myself that I recently discovered from
 Okie Teacher Tales

I plan to begin juicing. I would really like to start fasting, start out at 5 days. I'm so excited! My juicer just came in and I am ready to get to the store!

I have so many stomach issues and migraines that I think my body needs an entire cleanse and this seems to be about the only thing I haven't tried. It definitely ensures I'm being super healthy! So wish me luck :)

Well, I'm going to get off of here and enjoy my evening and the next few days! Hope everyone has had a great New Year thus far!

Mrs. Thomas :)

Currently

My first "currently!" I linked up from Farley! I love this idea!
Listening - The TV is on mainly as background noise. All the lights are off and it's so hard for me stay awake right now!
Loving - I slept A LOT over break, was able to spend time with my family, my husbands family, sleep again, eat whatever, then realize my apartment is a disaster and we have to move in a month and I'm still sitting here doing nothing. ;)
Thinking - This is so much work!! I really commend ALL of you who do this daily. I am exhausted. I want to be so much better at it though. So I'm trying everything I can!
Wanting - Anybody out there want to help me? ;) Shoot me an email with ideas! miller.cmarie@gmail.com
You're the bessssst!
Needing - I'm hungry. Husband is hungry. It's 8 at night and here I am, still!
Memory/Tradition - This is what we do every Christmas Eve. One year my Mom bought us XL pants. They're super comfy, but definitely have to roll them up about 5 times. :)

Have a blessed night!

Two New Activities

I have done SOME work over the break. Starting tomorrow since Husband goes back to work, I have quite a bit I would like to get finished. There are two new products I have finished to get back into the groove of things after this Christmas break!
This is a similar game to my Christmas sight word buddy game that was my first product on TpT! I added more words and left blank sheets for you all to add whatever words you would like.
You can find it here in my store!

The second product I finished is for your math centers! There are 34 pages with 5 different activities.

 They include:
Adding & Subtracting Snowflakes - Children will add and take away snowflakes.
Large group adding and subtracting activity
One to one correspondence in adding and taking away decorations to Frosty's house with prompt cards
Ten and Twenty frames
Before and After counting
You can find this bundle here!

Have a blessed night!

Happy New Year!

Well, I've done it again. Started a new blog, but this time with the hopes of keeping up with it daily and gaining new followers through all of my other social media. I have spent some days this break working on products for my TpT Store and trying to develop a new blog that I absolutely love! So, welcome, (again.) I will post later this week with activities I have and some things I want to share with more first year teachers of my experiences. My old blog was what started it all, but I knew I needed to be on blogger. It is definitely a whole new experience, so bare with me! :)

Have a blessed day. Talk to you soon!
