Missing Mrs. Thomas...

Hello there my sweet blogging friends!!!! I have been COMPLETELY missing for quite some time from my blog!!! I have missed it, for sure, but my life has been such a roller coaster I have had zero time like I wish I had. I just really want to recap on some things that have been going on in the life of Cassie Thomas as of late. 

First off... My master's degree.

I am currently working on my masters in reading and this was my very first semester. It's been rough, time consuming, but also very rewarding. I have learned a tremendous amount in just one semester so it makes me super excited to see what else will come from this program. So that's where my evenings now go. I hate that I've had to stray from blogging, but I am bettering myself and in the end I know blogging will also benefit from my education! :) 

Secondly... new grade

Moving from kindergarten to third has been a HUGE transition in itself. It really feels like being a first year teacher all over again. On top of mountains of changes that are happening at our district that take some time to get used to. So stress has become my best friend and it's still currently taking over my life. 

BUT --- my kids are learning and growing and in the end that's the utmost important thing. I love them, and I am learning with them. It's been a process to figure out what works with 8/9 year olds. I was great at figuring that out with 5/6 year olds, so it has definitely taken a learning adjustment. :)

OCTOBER CURRENTLY!

It's October!!! My absolute FAVORITE time of the year. Well... I mean, Texas doesn't know what Fall is so I can't be TOO excited. I can drive to see the Fall weather that I miss. Changing trees, cooler weather, typical white girl style (hoodies, shorts, uggs, and PSL) #judgeme

So, here we go! 

Listening: I am an all things obsessive Nicholas Sparks LOVER. I see a movie on TV, we are watching it. New book, preordered and read ASAP! Plus, Zac Efron isn't too bad to look at ;) 

Loving: October is my favorite favorite favorite time of year. I just wish it was like Oklahoma falls down here in Texas. BUT amazing things happen this month. Our FIRST year wedding anniversary is on the 19th, my husbands birthday is Friday, Halloween with my nephew is going to be SO MUCH FUN. Ah. Just love it! Plus all the Halloween crafts to do with the kiddos. I am TOO excited. 

Thinking: I've had a really rough time this year. I'm not going to sugar coat it. Moving from kindergarten to third grade has been really rough on me. It's a totally different ball game and with all the other changes at my district, well it's education right, what can I do but change my mindset. In my masters program we are really digging into Fountas and Pinnell and I have to find something that works for me before I lose my mind. Any ideas on ELAR schedules, shoot my way! 

Wanting: I need to get myself organized, so who do I call?! Mom. She's on her way here next week. Praise the LORD! 

Needing: My husband. He works so much, and I'm so thankful. But boy do I miss him during the week. Hurry up Friday!

We have a birthday boy to celebrate :)

Hi there! I'm Cassie and I am so excited to be a part of this collaboration! I currently live in Texas and teach 3rd grade ELA! It has been such a crazy moving from kindergarten to third, but it WILL get better! :) I am crazy about books so my biggest goal is to instill a love for reading into these kiddos similar to the love I have! Most of the products you will see from me are comprehension skill related! So happy to have you following along!!

I am married to my best friend, we are coming up on our one year anniversary on October 19 of marriage/8 years together! He is my biggest supporter and I am so thankful for that. We all know teaching is NOT easy!

I don't have a whole lot of pictures of my new adventure in 3rd grade right now! It's been such a busy year already and I have been out for a funeral, out for a conference, out for surgery, it's been an adventure. I am exhausted already. BUT -- these are a few images that get me through my day!

Currently & My Classroom

Hello! I have been MIA for far to long I know. I have just a short amount of time right now to get a quick blog post in before I try and nap for about 30 minutes then finish some master's homework and go over my plans for this next week, and cut out centers, then cook dinner, then clean, okay the list is getting longer and I don't like it ;)

Listening: Well, we have been out of detergent for the last 4 days and I haven't had time, or just didn't want to go to the store to get any. So I made the awesome idea to go to HEB today and it was a madhouse. Note to self: No grocery stores on Labor Day.

Loving: It's so nice to have this extra day. Except I will say not much has went my way this weekend as far as plans and things I wanted to do. I won't get into that. My fault in the end, so here I am on Monday treating it like a Sunday. Bummer.

Thinking: I need to take a nap. Not because I want to, but because I need to rest. I worked over 14 hour days all last week and my body still isn't back to its self. My sinuses are kicking my butt and that's not helping either. I also have master's homework just staring at me. 

Wanting: I want to sleep. All the time. Except my body knows I can't and wakes me up at 7am. Real cool, Cassie, real cool. 

Wine. I mean. Who doesn't love to relax? 

Summer. I miss you. Sorry I treated you like you weren't important, because I miss you now, so terribly.

Needing: To really not be on here, but I miss blogging, and I just am procrastinating. Don't judge me. I know you do it too.

3 trips: I swear, husband and I WILL go to St. Thomas for our much belated honeymoon.

Hawaii is something I want to do with my parents also. It's been a dream of my husband and I's and it would mean the world to me if my mom and dad could go with us :) 

Colorado. Seems so crazy I haven't ever been, but we have two friends who live up there so our plan is to get there. SOON!

So that is my currently. Not too exciting in the life of Cassie, but it's busy. So I guess it's keeping me excited. 

Now on to my classroom this year. It's changed a little since I took these pictures, BUT I love it. It's so much more cozy than last year, and maybe that's why I stayed until around 7 all last week.
