New Year, New Goals - 2015

Hey everyone! I have been completely busy! My life is GO GO GO GO GO, but I wouldn't have it any other way! I'm currently back in Oklahoma, relaxing with family, and trying to get used to this cold weather! So in love with the Christmas season!! I have a lot of goals in mind for myself for the new year, so I loved that Mrs. D's Corner created this awesome link up! You can find your way to it here! 

Personal: My body is wrecked. Stress has completely taken over me. All the time. I am sick a lot. I have decided that I need to dive in to some sort of health change. My cousin has introduced me to the advocare 24 day challenge, and I am on board! Can't wait!!

Professional: STAAR, my first year teaching a testing grade, I have total faith in my kids. I'm so ready. I also have to get myself together by taking the ESL certification and special ed certification over the summer. I am still working on my masters. First semester went great, I have to keep up that 4.0 

Planning: It's amazing how much better I feel about life when I am two weeks ahead. I need to keep that successful feeling up!

Organization: There are some messes in my room that drive me crazy. Moving into a new room, it really does take me all year to prepare myself for the future! 

Students: My babies need to love reading. They came in hating it, I have to get them feeling 100%. 

Motto: This has been the biggest impact on me, this saying. Remain positive, excuse the negative!

December Currently

I am sitting in my room right now during recess listening to Christmas music and watching the fire place on youtube :) 

Super relaxing!!

Loving that I get to go see my family in 15 days!!! I'm so ready! It's been way too long!

Thinking - I'm so tired. That's really all I can think about. 

Wanting - Sleep. See above post. ha. It's also doing this super misting stuff and I don't like it. My pants are wet and it's bothering me.

Needing - My desk is already a disaster and it's not even noon. I'm not super prepared for this week or the next two, but today we started a novel study and my kids were so excited! Should've been doing this all along!!

1. Ashleigh - 3rd-5th Grade Reading Workshop Unit 4.. I have the other 3 and this is AMAZING! It's a curriculum in itself. She has really out done herself!
2. Deb Hanson - I am obsessed with ALL of her powerpoints! They are the best review for my kiddos teaching a strategy or grammar.
3. Teaching with a Mountain View - There's a reason she's a top seller. Her task cards - perfection!
4. Miss DeCarbo - I love her text based evidence sheets. They teach my kiddos to go back to the text and that is something they struggled with before her products!
5. Jivey - This is a LEGIT better than basal product. I have had it on my wishlist for awhile since it's a higher priced product, BUT it's so worth it!!!

Missing Mrs. Thomas...

Hello there my sweet blogging friends!!!! I have been COMPLETELY missing for quite some time from my blog!!! I have missed it, for sure, but my life has been such a roller coaster I have had zero time like I wish I had. I just really want to recap on some things that have been going on in the life of Cassie Thomas as of late. 

First off... My master's degree.

I am currently working on my masters in reading and this was my very first semester. It's been rough, time consuming, but also very rewarding. I have learned a tremendous amount in just one semester so it makes me super excited to see what else will come from this program. So that's where my evenings now go. I hate that I've had to stray from blogging, but I am bettering myself and in the end I know blogging will also benefit from my education! :) 

Secondly... new grade

Moving from kindergarten to third has been a HUGE transition in itself. It really feels like being a first year teacher all over again. On top of mountains of changes that are happening at our district that take some time to get used to. So stress has become my best friend and it's still currently taking over my life. 

BUT --- my kids are learning and growing and in the end that's the utmost important thing. I love them, and I am learning with them. It's been a process to figure out what works with 8/9 year olds. I was great at figuring that out with 5/6 year olds, so it has definitely taken a learning adjustment. :)
